West Butterwick

‘The butter farm on the West side of the river’ is a rural community situated four miles North East of Epworth and approximately five miles due North of Owston Ferry.

Although the village has less than one thousand inhabitants, it has some excellent amenities including the very fine Church of St. Mary, built in 1841 from white brick in the Gothic style, consisting of nave and a western tower with an octagonal stair turret, pinnacles and a brick spire that contains a single bell. The recently restored stained glass windows are of particular interest.
